Copying from Device to Device Inside the Same Router

The table below provides command options for copying a system image from one device to another (methods vary according to different platforms):

Command Summary

The table below lists the various locations to which you can copy an image from a TFTP server. These options vary according to different platforms. Refer to Using URL Prefixes for more information and in order to learn more about each of these options.

Syntax Description
bootflash: Copy to bootflash: file system
disk0: Copy to disk0: file system
disk1: Copy to disk1: file system
flash: Copy to flash: file system
flh: Copy to flh: file system
ftp: Copy to ftp: file system
lex: Copy to lex: file system
null: Copy to null: file system
nvram: Copy to nvram: file system
rcp: Copy to rcp: file system
running-config Update (merge with) current system configuration
slot0: Copy to slot0: file system
slot1: Copy to slot1: file system
startup-config Copy to startup configuration
system: Copy to system: file system
tftp: Copy to tftp: file system

The three most common commands used for image copying are:

  • copy tftp flash

  • copy rcp flash

  • copy slot0: slot1:

The example below illustrates the procedure to follow for copying the system image from one device to another (for example, from one slot/disk to another slot/disk) on Cisco 3600 series routers.

Detailed Example

The copy command shown below is used to copy the system image file from one device to another. In the following example, the system image is copied from slot0 to slot1.

Desktop accounting software for mac. Akaunting FeaturesAkaunting provides single-entry accounting features such as tracking bank transactions for an unlimited number of accounts, managing inventory, creating invoices, entering expenses in multiple currencies, and attaching pictures of receipts and other files to transaction data. Akaunting’s server-based software and the web-based cloud version are free of charge. These add-ons are available through Akaunting’s App Store. There are third-party add-ons available for purchase to extend Akaunting’s functionality.

Copying From One Router to Another

Below are the steps to follow for copying the Cisco IOS software image from a router acting as TFTP server to another router. Both routers in this example are Cisco 2500 series routers. In this example, Router1 is the TFTP server and Router2 is the router on which the Cisco IOS software image is being copied to.

Anti malware program mac. Before you begin, verify the connectivity between Router1 and Router2 using the ping command.

  1. Check the image size on Router1 with the show flash command.

  2. Beat mixing software for mac. Check the image size on Router2 with the show flash command to verify if enough space is available on Router2 for the system image file to be copied.

Note: If there is enough space to copy the system image file, then the original one can be retained and the new file can be copied in the additional memory space. If there is not enough space available, as in this case, then the existing file from the Flash is erased while downloading a new one. It is a good practice to backup the existing system image to the TFTP server using the copy flash tftp command.

  3. Configure Router1 as the TFTP server using the configure terminal command.

Note: The options given above for the tftp-server command may vary for different platforms.

  4. When the TFTP server is configured, download the specified image from Router1 to Router2 using the copy tftp flash command.

  5. Verify the Flash for the new system image on Router2.

    * The router only reloads for the Run-from-flash systems. For more details, see Copying to Flash Memory for Run-from-Flash Systems

Note: In order to copy a Startup-config file from one device to another, refer to Copying Configuration Files By Using TFTP.

Part 1: How to Transfer iTunes Library from Mac to Mac

Often, Mac users will have more than one Mac in their home. It is the nature of the beast, as they may be so pleased with their exclusive Mac environment that there may suddenly be a MacBook or an iMac in the house where there may have been only one Mac computer previously. So, like households with both PC and Mac systems in them, households with more than one Mac may decide that it’s time to copy their iTunes library from one Mac to another. There are a number of steps to follow when transferring iTunes from one Mac computer to the other, just as there are when you transfer iTunes from PC to Mac. Here is how it’s done:

Step 1. Open iTunes. Go to Preferences > Advanced

From there, click “Keep iTunes Media folder organized” in order to see your iTunes folder stay properly organized and keep the transition from one computer to the other smooth.

Step 2. Deauthorize your computer from the iTunes store

It’s important to ensure that you deauthorize your old computer from the iTunes Store if you are planning on not using your old computer on iTunes anymore. All you need to do is go to Store>Deauthorize this computer, and your old computer will be deauthorized.

Step 3. Move your iTunes Media Folder

From here, it’s simply a matter of closing iTunes on your old computer and moving your iTunes Media folder across the network to your new computer. Locate the Music folder (~/Music) and use either an external hard drive or a wired or wireless network to get the job done.

Step 4. Change the Library on the new computer

Move the iTunes folder to the same location on the new machine as you had it on the old machine. This will help your iTunes on your new computer locate all the music files on your new machine.

Step 5. Launch iTunes while holding down the Option key

A dialog box will open, asking whether you want to 'Cancel', 'Create a new library', or 'Choose an Existing Library'. Select 'Choose Library', then navigate to where you moved the iTunes folder. Remember that you will overwrite any existing music files in your library.
